Parent & Parish News Week 8

Back by popular demand and amazing efforts in previous years is SOCKTOBER!

This year we are focusing on raising funds for those in need in Mongolia.

Mongolia, a land of vast steppes, rugged mountains, and nomadic culture, is one of the most fascinating and unique countries in the world.

Nestled between Russia and China, Mongolia boasts a rich history dating back to the era of Genghis Khan.

Its people are known for their warmth, resilience, and deep connection to their land and traditions.

From the bustling capital of Ulaanbaatar to the serene expanse of the Gobi Desert, Mongolia offers a blend of ancient heritage and modern development.

We have a school page already set up and ready to go with fundraising however, there is a catch!

This year – each grade will fundraise as a group. The grade who raises the most will receive a prize which I will reveal later.

For example, Year 1 students can register for Year 1 at our school and try to raise the most across our school

Prizes and Socktober EVENT will be early TERM 4.  More exciting details to be announced soon!

Steps to get fundraising:

  1. SIGN UP https://www.socktober.org.au/
  2. LINK YOUR ACCOUNT TO OUR SCHOOL AND YOUR GRADE (Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School Forestville)
  3. Start raising FUNDS for those in need

Thank you for making a difference to the lives of those in need.

I look forward to supporting this fundraising event at OLGC, with the support of our staff, students and community.

Together we can move mountains, and I look forward to together reflecting on all that we have achieved for those in need last year.

Family Mass

Thank you all so much for attending the Family Mass on Saturday evening. It was a wonderful occasion, and it was fantastic to see families enjoying a sausage and playtime afterward. A thanks to the families and children who participated, sang, read, and made the mass so meaningful.  A special thanks to Mrs Webster and the choir who made the mass so wonderful with the music. We look forward to seeing you all at our next family mass.

Confirmation

We congratulate and pray for all the children who are making the sacrament of Confirmation this Saturday. They have prepared well, and we all hope they have a wonderful day and celebration.

Parish News

RCIA- As the children in our school learn about the Catholic faith in their daily Religious Education lessons and by attending masses and reconciliation, it can open up questions for us all. Our Parish has an information session for those who are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith. The information session is about the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Come along and learn about how adults can learn about the faith and how to become a catholic.

Terrey Hills Landcare Group

Sunday, 3 November (3-5pm) is the next 2024 Youth Landcare Project date at Kieran’s Creek, St Anthony in the Fields, (46 Myoora Rd, Terrey Hills NSW 2084).

If you are interested in this amazing bush regeneration project removing weeds and rubbish and planting natives, creating an important habitat for small birds such as the yellow robin, reptiles such as the eastern water dragon, and the black swamp wallaby, don’t hesitate to come along on.
