Parent & Parish News Week 6, Term 2 2025

Parish News

Parent and Parish news

Being a parent is the hardest and yet most rewarding job we can do. A reminder to all parents –

“You’re going to get a lot of advice from people, and you can take bits and pieces, but you know innately what your child needs. You should trust that. Don’t beat yourself up in making decisions about things that may or may not work. It’s an experiment in life, and you’re a part of that.”

– Lucy Liu

Parent webinars.

As a parent I know that it can be hard to know how to go about parenting our children. There is no handbook to help us know the best way to do things. We are grateful for the Council of Catholic School Parents Term 2 Webinars that are available for parents to watch and reflect on. Please see the link Council of Catholic School Parents eNewsletter for more details and feel free to contact Susanne Bragge if you have any questions.

Parish NEWS

We are eagerly anticipating our next Family Mass on Saturday, 14 June. This special gathering is a wonderful opportunity for our community to unite in faith, celebrate together, and enjoy meaningful social time afterwards. A highlight of the Mass will be a delightful performance by the kindergarten students, and we would love to see families from across the entire school come along to share in this uplifting occasion.

If you can join us, please RSVP using the link https://forms.office.com/r/84uFpZtffJ

First Communion

We are happily anticipating the joyous celebration of First Communion on Sunday, 21 June. It has been inspiring to see the dedication of the children in year 4 or above and their families as they prepare for this sacred milestone. We keep them in our prayers and look forward to welcoming them as full members of the Catholic community, united in faith and fellowship.

Confirmation

We have been given the date of Saturday, 8 November when the Bishop will be here to confirm the children who are baptised and are in year 3 or above.

If you have any questions, please contact Susanne Bragge on sacraments@ffcp.org.au

We look forward to welcoming the new cohort of children into the 2025/2026 sacramental program.

Religious Creative Arts Competition 2025

🎨 Theme: WITNESS
“You will receive power from the Holy Spirit, and you will be my witnesses” (Acts 1:8)

The Religious Creative Arts Competition is a long-standing event within Catholic Schools Broken Bay, now in its 12th year. It celebrates the talents of students across five creative categories:

  • Visual Arts
  • Dance
  • Drama
  • Music
  • Short Film

Students will plan and develop their entries during Terms 2 and 3, with submissions due by Friday, 29 August (Week 6, Term 3).

🎤 Showcase Night:
Finalists will perform alongside industry professionals at the Hornsby RSL, 5:30pm on Wednesday, 12 November 2025.

A key element of the competition is how students express their understanding of the theme. In 2025, students are asked to reflect on:

“How is this theme lived out or demonstrated today?”

We’re excited to see the creativity and faith of our students shine once again this year.

For any questions about the competition, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Peace and blessings,

Allison Castilho – Religious Education Coordinator
