Homework at OLGC supports student learning in several ways. It reinforces literacy and numeracy skills taught at school, helps parents stay connected with what their child is learning, and builds positive study habits that benefit students in the long term.
Homework Expectations
- Class teachers will outline the specific homework requirements for their class. At times, this may include a project or research task linked to current learning.
- Weekly homework is set to include the weekend to support families with busy weekday schedules. For example, homework may be assigned on a Monday and due the following Monday.
Compulsory and Optional Tasks
- Compulsory tasks:
- Daily reading
- Maths Online / Matific (unless the teacher advises otherwise)
- Optional tasks:
Some tasks may be marked optional to give families flexibility. If your child can complete the optional task within the set timeframe and you would like them to do so, they are welcome to complete it.
Family Choice and Communication
We respect that families have different circumstances and priorities. If you need to adjust the homework expectations – whether reducing or extending them – please speak with your child’s teacher.
