Book Week 2022

Book Week at OLGC Forestville

Book Week is a wonderful week at OLGC as we celebrate books and Australian children’s authors and illustrators. The Children’s Book Council of Australia has brought books and children together since 1945 through CBCA Book Week. This year the theme of book week is “Dreaming with eyes open…”

Classroom teachers, teacher librarians, and staff develop activities and read stories to highlight the importance of reading.  The tradition continues this year with the students and teachers dressing as their favourite book character. The Book Week parade will take place this Friday, August 26.

On Tuesday August 23, 2022 the students of OLGC gathered on the basketball court for the Mystery Reader activity.  Like musical chairs, teachers walked around the students, and when the music stops they sat in the closest chair and read their story to the group of children nearest to their chair.

Book Week Character Parade at OLGC Forestville

The Book Week Character parade was an exciting day as all the students and staff came to school dressed as their favourite book character.  It was a fun day indeed! The parade was held in the OLGC school hall after lunch and the atmosphere in the hall was filled of excitement and joy.
