Mission and Parent Corner News

From the Parish

We are very lucky to have such a wonderful parish community. There are so many opportunities to join in the many events that are happening. Some important events coming up are:

Confirmation – this Saturday, 23 September – We are thinking and praying for the children who will be confirmed by Bishop Anthony at our OLGC church with 2 ceremonies, one at 10:30am and the other at 12:30pm. We wish them all a wonderful celebration as they are confirmed.

St Francis of Assisi celebration- Family fun afternoon on Saturday, 21 October at St Anthony’s in the field. Our wonderful parishioners at St Anthony’s are keen to celebrate the beautiful grounds at St Anthony’s in Terrey Hills. Families are warmly invited to come along. The afternoon will begin with a short liturgy outside in the beautiful grounds and then time for games, fun and even tree planting. This is simply a fun afternoon exploring nature and the beautiful grounds of St Anthony’s.

Seasons for Growth Program

We are excited to be able to offer the seasons for growth program to students.
The program is for children who may had experienced any sort of loss or grief.

Who is it for?
Children and young people aged 6-18 who are living with the effects of change and loss. Many factors can cause change such as:
• Friends can come and go
• Loss of someone or something you love
• Parents and families separate
• Moving to a new place
• Impact of illness
• Family work-life changes
• Impacts of COVID-19 Change affects everyone differently, as does grief.
It’s the impact of the change, not the event itself that Seasons for Growth focuses on.
It is suggested that anyone affected by bereavement wait 6-12 months before participating in a Seasons for Growth program.

How does the program work?
The program is run over 6-8 sessions with groups of 4-7 participants and is facilitated by trained adults called “Companions”. I have undergone 2 days companion training to be able to present the course to the children. It is an amazing course and I am looking forward to working with the children and presenting the course to children. I would like to present the sessions beginning next term, during school hours.
Please feel free to read to attached brochure and contact myself or Paola if you have any questions or would like your child/ren to attend the course.
If you could rsvp via email or using the link https://forms.gle/fyw6SvarJrFPdwxy6 by Friday, 22 September, if you are interested in your child attending the program, I will contact parents with further information and details for next term.
Thank you for all your support and please feel free to email or contact me if you have any questions.
