Sports Update for Week 8-10

Next week, in Week 8, we will be holding our annual Cross Country event on Friday.  This is event will be held down the road at Forestville Park at the bottom of Currie Road for Years 2-6.  Students who place in the top 6 of each age group will progress to the Northern Beaches Zone Championships in Term 2. The age groups for Zone will be 8/9, 10, 11, 12/13-year-olds.  The 8–10-year-olds will run 2000m while the older students will run 3000m. Our younger students, in Kindy and Year 1, will run a modified course at school on the same day. In case of wet weather students will then complete a course the following week within the school grounds.

In Week 10, our Stage 3 students will complete in the annual Stage 3 Northern Beaches Soccer Gala Day.  Unlike previous years, we have been asked to nominate teams into three different divisions based on skill level.  Given our strength of ability at OLGC, we have decided to enter 2 teams (1 mixed and 1 girls) into Div 1, 1 team into Div 2 and 2 mixed teams into Div 3. Mr Foresto and Miss Biasi will be holding trials this week for our Div 1 teams during lunch.

Importantly, we have been advised that all teams need to have at least one manager otherwise we cannot field them on the day, so we would encourage all parents who can assist to complete question located on the Compass permission note.

*Please note, our Stage 2 students will compete in the Stage 2 Northern Beaches Soccer Gala Day later on this year. This is due to the mid-term Easter break and scheduling difficulties.
